Simone Hörster Weekend – Spring 2026
Saturday 7 & Sunday 8 March 2026

Bio Simone Hörster
Simone Hörster first came into contact with the Pilates method in 1998, completed her training in 2004 and became a Teacher Trainer shortly after. In 2008 she founded her studio Core Pilates by Simone Hörster in Berlin.
She deepened her work through the Weekend Series with Jay Grimes and The Mentorship Program The Method with Jay Grimes and Sandy Shimoda. She also had the privilege of learning in workshops with renowned teachers and elders such as Mary Bowen, Lolita San Miguel and Peter Fiasca. Since 2005 she has been sharing her knowledge in her own mentorship program Teacher of the Contrology Method.
Freya got to know Simone when she was practising for her advanced comprehensive certification in 2024. She has trained twice per week ever since with Simone. Loving Simone’s kindness and her passion for the work of both Joseph Pilates ánd her mentor (elder) Jay Grimes, it was Freya’s wish to bring Simone to her studio, so her clients could also enjoy and learn from Simone’s insights!
Agenda
Saturday 7th of March 2026
9AM – 10.15 AM: open-studio workout:
doing your own work-out on the mat or the reformer fosters better understanding and integration of the Pilates method. This is a self-paced workout with Simone Hörster as your guide, tutor and mentor. FULLY BOOKED
10.30 AM – 12.30 PM: workshop 1 – Finding the 2-way stretch:
the term is a classic Jay Grimes thing, meaning that in every pilates exercise you reach in two directions, originating from a strong center. It is an active ‘stretch’. This workshop will teach you not only to understand the meaning better, but also to seek and feel the 2-way stretch in exercises on different apparatus and experience what it does to your body. FULLY BOOKED
12.30 PM – 1.15 PM: lunch
(bring your own lunch, or order a sandwich or salad with us)
1.15 PM – 3.15 PM: workshop 2 – Shapes of the spine:
Pilates works the whole body and in all shapes in motion. Sandy Shimoda defines five basic shapes: round, tall, side bend, arch and twist. During this workshop you will discover which exercises practice which shape, and how more advanced exercises challenge you in combining different shapes in motion. FULLY BOOKED
3.15 PM – 3.45 PM: tea time – coffee time with sweets and fruit
3.45 PM – 5.45 PM: workshop 3 – Wunda chair, the gym at home:
Joseph Pilates originally designed the wunda chair as a “gym at home” apparatus. It is known for its challenging exercises in order to build strength and work on balance and flexibility. In this workshop you will discover how the wunda chair can be complementary to your regular mat and/or reformer work-out and how you can challenge yourself and/or your clients to progress their practice using the wunda chair. FULLY BOOKED
7 PM: dinner at Cafe Theatre
(to be paid seperately)
